Oxymetholone, often referred on the market as Anadrol, is a synthetic derivative of testosterone.

Oxymetholone is a potent 17-alpha alkylated derivative of dihydrotestosterone. This is a potent anabolic and androgenic drug despite being weakly bound to the androgen receptor. Oxymetholone promotes protein anabolism and rapid weight gain. It also increases strength, muscle mass, and growth of new red blood cells.

Oxymetholone was developed by Zoltan Pharmaceuticals, a company that doesn’t exist anymore, in the 60’s. Oxymetholone was used to help with muscle growth, osteoporosis and anemia. In time, it became evident that Oxymetholone’s side effects were so harsh that some patients developed liver problems.
